What the Stars Say for 28 Feb 2008

The stars say, "Your friends are going to be your greatest source of comfort and energy today".

My friends always are. The ones who helped me moves bodies, especially.

I've started reading again. I just picked up a book Talk to the Hand: The Utter Bloody Rudeness of the World Today, or Six Good Reasons to Stay Home by Lynn Truss.

Don't ask me why the title is so looooong. It feels good to be feeling the pulp again.

Rat Year

When I told Chewy I saw a rat outside our house (climbing up our neighbour's gate), she replied "Rat! We're going to have good luck for the year!"

What the hell. She doesn't seem to get my point that THERE IS A RAT RUNNING LOOSE OUTSIDE OUR HOUSE!!!

It's Just A Little More Than A Little

I'm not obsessed with the DS. Okay fine, I admit I'm just a little. Annie, Shaoxiang and I were playing till 1am last night! Okay okay fine, it's a little more than a little obsession.

*pulls myself away from Rabbid to pack for Bintan trip*

The First Weekend Away

It's the first weekend away. It's like deja vu, isn't it. Apparently, the USA trip did nothing. Hopefully, this one will.

We Sure Had More Fun Than The Couple

Weihao's primary schoolmate (Firdaus) held a wedding at Orchid Country Club last night and as usual, I'm the "best friend" he brings along. It was a small, intimate affair with only eight tables of friends and relatives. A modern wedding setting with luxurious white silk satin fabric backdrop on the stage, and white candles which glow softly among the white roses arrangements. I sure didn't expect this from a malay wedding.

Seated at our table were Michelle (Weihao & groom's pri schoolmate), Glen (Michelle's "date"), Jin Tat (Weihao & groom's pri schoolmate), Umar (groom's sec schoolmate), Rachel (Umar's "date"), two of groom's NTU schoolmates, Weihao and I.

All of us started chatting and an hour into the wedding, others could hear all nine of us bursting into laughter at regular intervals. We were only interrupted by the king-of-bad-jokes MC. As the night came to a close, I realised I never had such fun at a wedding dinner. The usual is a solemn affair with all-too-kind relatives questioning "when will it be your turn?" If only they knew I won't be serving sharks' fin at my wedding (whenever a crazy one dares to marry me), they'd be wishing they didn't receive the red bomb.

At the end of the dinner, Umar was addressing Glen as his brother-in-law. To keep the story short, the reasons involved a 16-year old sister, a plantation and two lines "You look very familiar" and "Have you committed any crimes?" That makes two happy occasions in a night. We sure had more fun than the couple!

What the Stars Say for 23 Feb 2008

The stars say, "If you're patient, you can connect with someone you normally would not connect with".

Impatience is my virtue.

Valid Reasons

I swear that I bought my new shoes on valid grounds!

1. The ones I was wearing were old and dirty!
2. They didn't go with what I was wearing!
3. The new ones were on sale!
4. I only got one pair!

See! All valid reasons!

Qiaojing Hates My DS Lite

When I didn't pick up two of Qiaojing's calls, she text "STOP playing with your DS! Answer your phone!"

I thought that was funny.

My Mum's a Bandit

My tv was diagnosed with terminal cancer a few months ago and now, is pronounced dead.

At a time like this, I grieved.

Seeing that the SCV box is of no use to me now, my mum instructed my brother to disconnected it (while Chewy and I were not at home!) and connect to her tv for her use instead.

It’s like my tv was taken off the life-support machine!

Blow after blow for poor tv... *sob*

Valentine's Day Like Never Before

He broke up with me on Valentine's Day with a dozen of roses. Yes, on Valentine's Day, no less.

Annie cried when I gave her her favourite flowers which Wayne entrusted me to buy. Yes, her favourite tulips, no less.

Chewy shoved a surprise she hasn’t wished for to keep it out of sight. Yes, in a large paper bag, no less.

Everyone got flowers, for the right and wrong reasons. Must really be the most f***ing memorable Valentine's Day ever.

The Stuff Weihao Sends

Today, I had the weirdest conversation with Weihao in the longest time. The bottom line: Weihao will send me some por* links.

Qiaojing's A Guest Star!

So it's Qiaojing's birthday month and whatever Qiaojing wants, she gets. Ying was nursing a bad bout of cold/sore throat and Weihao just arrived home from Genting but if Qiaojing says she wants to go to St James, we go St James. There is to be no questions asked and no objections entertained.

And so, St James we went last night.

I realised our parties are starting fashionably late. No, make that fashionably later. It used to be 10pm, then 11pm, then 12pm and now, we don't start till 1am. At this rate, one day, we'll reach the club just in time to only see the closing act.

But that is NOT the point here. This is about Qiaojing. This is for Qiaojing.

Dear Qiaojing was first put in the spotlight when she had the Bellini stage all to herself. The singer (name unknown) serenaded her with a song (name unknown too) while putting the moves on her. Ying, Weihao and I were all expecting a short birthday song but apparently, the guy had other plans in mind. We were grinning ear to ear, so we most certainly are not complaining. Qiaojing couldn't wait to get off the stage the second the song ended. Poor guy was asking "No kiss?"

Well, if only you had a dry shirt on, hon. The perspiration grossed me out despite me standing a good 10 feet away.

Next, dear Qiaojing was the talk of the town when she was volunteered to go up the stage in Boiler Room for a dance segment. I shall quickly tiptoe over the fact that I was volunteered too. This is about Qiaojing, remember? Qiaojing had to dance in front of everyone, first with everyone, then with a partner, then with every dancer else. She's got the groove, baby!

What were Ying and Weihao doing, did I hear someone ask? I'd thought you'd never ask! Dear Ying and Weihao were laughing their heads off (I didn't want to write "laugh their ass off". Opps, I guess I just did.) For a moment there, I thought they were going to faint from laughing so hard because they forgot to breathe. What else could they doing? Oh wait, of course, Ying couldn't help resist taking videos of us humiliating ourselves in front of everyone. Now, how I wished she had forgotten to breathe..

Like I always say, what are friends for? For the good times and more importantly, for the bad times. When the bad time calls, your best friends would stop at nothing to capture it on video. Make that three videos.

Ying even came up to the front of the stage to ask Qiaojing to pass her Qiaojing's cell phone because hers was running low on batt. Silly-ly, Qiaojing did! Qiaojing must have felt so betrayed by her very own cell phone.

If I had known that Qiaojing had plans to guest star in the performances in Bellini Room and Boiler Room, I would have brought my video camera instead of relying on our miserable cell phones!

Funny as the the incidents of the night have been, it was all fun. We'll be replaying these videos for years to come, I'm sure.

On two separate notes altogether.

I have a brilliant plan to combat our late parties situation. We can always write in to request the clubs to close later, or rather, earlier at 7am, instead of 4. I'm guessing St James would give a member's suggestion some serious consideration. Just imagine if our request does come true! I will be able to reach office in time for work too!

Now, the waiters have taken to addressing me as "The girl who went up the stage" instead of "The girl who orders a lot of tequila shots". Great, this is just great.

Qiaojing's Happiest Day of the Year

I know it's difficult to admit your age to the rest of the world now but look on the bright side... Hmm... I can't think of a bright side...

What the Stars Say for 3 Feb 2008

The stars say "You know what the very best way to stay out of a fight is? Keep your head down!"

But I wasn't looking for a fight!

The stars continued "You're experiencing your limits in a much more visceral fashion than you're used to and that can be as instructive as it is frustrating. Make sure that you don't just throw up your hands and walk away".

Frustrating is an understatement.
